Nehemiah Bryce

Age: 27

Sex: male

Date: 16 Mar 2008

Place: New Croft, Newtown, West Midlands

Nehemiah Bryce was shot near a block of flats in Rodway Close, Newtown on 16 March 2008.

He had been parking his black Seat Ibiza car in a car park at the Reynolds House in Newtown at about 9.45pm when a number of people approached him. However, he drove off into Rodway Close but collided with what was thought to have been a black vehicle after which shots were fired at his car. He then got out of his car and ran off up an alley where he collapsed.

A black saloon car was afterwards seen speeding off. the police said that they were trying to trace it, noting that it was thought to have had damage to either its front or rear.

He was taken to hospital but later died from shotgun wounds at 10.45pm. He had been shot in the back.

The police said that he had been hunted by his killers. A detective said, 'There appears to be some persistence in trying to get to Nehemiah'.

Two men, aged 24 and 32, were arrested the following month, but no charges were made.

The police said that they were keen to trace Nehemiah Bryce's movements from the time he was seen at New Street train station at 7pm until he was shot at 9.45pm.

His car, a black Seat Ibiza, had the registration number SD06 ZRK. His car was said to have had damage to its front.

The police said that his murder was not random and that they believed that there had been some pre-determination and planning, however, they said that they didn't know what the motive was.

The police said that Nehemiah Bryce had relatives in the area and had been a frequent visitor, adding, 'It is difficult to say whether it was a chance visit or if he had been lured into the area by the offenders, who did show some perseverance in trying to get to Nehemiah'.

The police also examined a number of premises in Warwickshire and the West Midlands during their investigation.

It was noted that very few people came forward with information on who might have been involved with his murder.

In December 2009 a man was charged with an offence under the Proceeds of Crime Act after he was found concealing, disguising or storing stolen property by police investigating Nehemiah Bryce's murder, the property being cars.

It was noted that a number of other people had been killed in the area around that time, and the police urged for gangs to remain calm. Other victims included:

  1. Assar Joseph Mohammed Tomlinson, outside the King Of The Road pub in Newtown on 23 December 2007, unsolved.
